NATURA promotes a new master course in South-East Asia

 

A strong partnership to develop a new master course in two universities

 

With the support of Natura, the Royal University of Agriculture in Cambodia and the University of Lampung in Indonesia have decided to prepare a new master course in INRAD.

 

Several Universities of Europe and South East Asia join efforts to develop the curriculum, train the teaching staff and prepare training materials. The main partners are:

 

Kasetsart University (KU), Thailand

Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), Malaysia,

Montpellier SupAgro (MSA), France,

Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

SEARCA in Asia and Natura in Europe are in charge of promoting the project and disseminating the results.

 

SEARCA (Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture) is one of the 15 regional Centres of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), an intergovernmental body founded in 1965 to promote cooperation in education, science, and culture.

 

Launching workshop in the Philippines

All partners joined at SEARCA in Los Banos, Philippines, from 6 to 9 November, 2007, to plan the activities in the next months.

Activities planned:

Ø Crossed evaluation of the existing master courses in RUA and Unila in the field of agronomy/rural development;

Ø Field research undertaken by pairs of MSc students, associating Cambodian / Indonesian / European / Malaysian / Thai students;

Ø Preparation of the curriculum, short time and MSc training;

Ø Preparation of teaching materials;

Ø Exchange of staff for training.
