05.12.2008 - ACP Science and Technology Programme
The Secretariat of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP - Secretariat) is pleased to announce the launch of the Call for Proposals of the “ACP Science and Technology Programme” and invites interested parties to participate herein.
The deadline for submission of project proposals is 27 February 2009 at 16:00 hours (Brussels time).
The ACP Science and Technology Programme is an ACP-EU co-operation programme in the field of science and technology. It is funded by the European Union (from the 9th European Development Fund and the European Union’s General Budget BL 21.031700) and implemented by the ACP Secretariat.
The ACP Science and Technology Programme is developed against the background of the 2002 “Cape Town ACP Ministerial Forum on Research”, the Johannesburg “World Summit on Sustainable Development” and the “EC&s Strategy for Sustainable Development”.
The Programme shall contribute to achieving the Millennium Development Goals 1, 7 and 8 by targeting poverty eradication, focusing on building and enhancing strong scientific and technological capacity to support research, development and innovation in the ACP region, and enabling the identification and formulation of activities or policies that are critical to sustainable development. It will serve the following purposes:
- Coordination and networking in applied research
- Strengthening of the ability to design instruments (or reinforce the existing ones) for collaborative research through cooperation, networking and dissemination of knowledge (through multi stakeholder approaches)
- Management of research activities and reinforcement of research quality
