10.01.2010 - Invitation to conference CIPCAD
The Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development (GCARD) 2010 being held in Montpellier, France from 28-31 March 2010, will work out a global action plan and strategy for improving agricultural research in order to make maximum impact on development, especially of the poor. This plan and strategy will be developed on the basis of a global framework of agricultural research needs and priorities, which will be established through consultations with representatives from a wide range of agricultural research stakeholders around the world (see http://www.egfar.org/egfar/website/gcard and http://gcardblog.wordpress.com/about/ ).
Universities, research organisations and training centres are involved in the process and active in their respective regional forum. Capacity development and training support to agricultural research and agricultural development are key means to contribute to global ARD challenges and potential future mechanisms for international ARD. This topic needs will be fully recognised in the GCARD agenda, especially when considering that one of the declared challenges is strengthening the National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) and giving a full role to the “non-traditional research stakeholders” such as farmers’ organisations, NGOs and the private sector.
In such a context, Agrinatura, Agropolis, ICA and CTA joined hands to organise a pre-GCARD workshop fully devoted to the questions of capacity building. The CIPCAD workshop - Challenges and Innovative Processes for Capacity strengthening in Agriculture for Development - will bring together all stakeholders interested in training and education in agriculture for development, on the 26 and 27 March in Montpellier (see the leaflet attached). Conclusions of the workshop will be brought forward to the GCARD itself which will start the day after.
The General Assembly of our Association Agrinatura will also be held on March 27, 3 PM, immediately after the closure of the CIPCAD. We do hope you will join us for this important event.
Only a limited number of participants will be able to participate to the GCARD conference itself, and the lists of accreditated guests will soon be closed. Hence, if you wish to participate not only to the CIPCAD and the Agrinatura General Assembly, but also to the GCARD itself, you are invited to pre-register on the GCARD website ( http://www.gcardpreregistration.com ). We expect your information to be sent before January 13, 2010.
We encourage you to widely extend this invitation within your university/organisation.
The CIPCAD website is now open at http://cipcad.agropolis.fr The registration is available for 140 particiapnts.
